Have just been reminded - can anyone suggest a good (freeware) expenses-tracking type program for the Palm? The one that comes with it is pretty crap for my purposes. Specifically, what I want to be able to do is:

  • Put in my own name/definition for each item (so I can say 'Tube to X' or whatever rather than just the category name)

  • Write my own expense types (OK, wanting to have Tube instead of Subway is petty, but there's other stuff as well)

  • Get it to add up a week at a time, or a month at a time, or the total on certain expense types, or whatever

  • Archive or categorise stuff so I don't see it all the time, but it's there if I need it (technically I could do this with the standard thing by creating new categories per week/month, but that's non-ideal)
  • Be able to keep two separate databases (one for daily things, one for 'unusual'/once-off expenses)>

Any suggestions? Having had a bit of a bad patch financially, I've nearly sorted things out again, but I clearly need to keep track of both daily spending and 'unusual' spending, so I don't wind up in the same situation again.

It occurs to me that if there isn't anything out there, I might be able to adapt HandyShopper to do what I want, but that seems daft, & I'm not sure it'll work properly.

Update: looks like HandyFinance (don't think it's related to HandyShopper) will do what I want. Shall download & install forthwith.

You could always let people buy you drinks, solving the financial problem. Speaking of which...
