Felt better by last night, & even got as far as eating something; but by this morning this turned out to have been a bad idea. So *another* day spent mostly in bed feeling rough. Went to the doctor, who said "stomach flu, nothing you can do about it, drink lots of fluids & it should last 5 days or less". Great.
However, I shall say stuff about the weekend before I forget (especially since what with the not eating anything for 3 days now, my brain is not at its remembering-things best. grump).
Went to the Purple Turtle in Camden with
wintrmute on Friday night. The music started off tolerable (old 80s, mostly), but then once the place started filling up it moved to Generic Mainstream Dance-Type Crap & got stuck there. Bah. However, by this stage we had seats, & drinks, & I think neither of us could be bothered moving elsewhere (well, I couldn't, & Toby didn't suggest it, so...). And the advantage of Generic etc is that it's relatively easy to tune it out & get on with your conversation, due to it being so monumentally dull. So it was a really nice evening regardless of music-crapness, hurrah.
Then on Saturday afternoon I took myself shopping in Camden, & spent, well, probably too much money, but never mind. Got a skirt & 5 tops, & that *has* to be good. And I successfully bought a couple of things of the variety where normally I'd say "oh, that's nice, but maybe I won't wear it", which was part of the aim of the exercise (I am bored with most of the rest of my clothes, you see). Covetously eyed up a couple of corset-type things in a couple of shops, but currently do not have upwards of £70 to spend on a single item, so there we go. Maybe another month. It's odd, I keep thinking of myself as a person who mostly wears black, but this isn't anywhere *near* true any more. Old self-image got stuck, I suppose. I mean, black is a great colour, but much of the stuff I like is shiny bright stuff, when it comes to clothes.
Saturday night went out to a friend's birthday party in a pub in London Bridge. Which was fun, in the customary party way, & I was enormously restrained & drank practically nothing (didn't feel like it). And then, as per above, succumbed to stomach flu the next day so might as *well* have had a hangover. Bah.
The Good Life is on shortly, so I must go watch TV.
