Glastonbury planning

So. It is probably about time to buy train tickets for Glastonbury, since it's around a month away.



Previous experience indicates that one has to do this In Person. The National Rail timetable thinks that the direct trains are available at 0933 and 1235 (takes about 1 hr 40), but again, previous experience indicates that they may lay on extras for the occasion. However, if wishing to book, we might need to go for one of those.

I am inclined to the 0933 - get there nice & early before it's *entirely* rammed & there starts being a queue to get in. We managed this fine last year. I think the 1235 is a bit late - we wouldn't get onsite till about 1500.

We cannot book a particular train on the way back - they won't let you.

So. Who wants to travel with Pete & me, & therefore wants me to get them train tickets? Let me know if you have a YP card. I want to do this *soon* before all the trains book up (I booked about a week into June last time, & we got some of the last seats IIRC).

Will Mon have a YP card? (if she plans on doing very much getting-on-trains, she should get one - last year the cost of the YP card was very nearly covered just by the saving on the Glasto journey alone - 17quid!).

There was that much saved last year: I do not guarantee that there'll be that much saved again :-)

TheTrainLine is claiming to have bookable tickets, but I *think* this is Not Actually True iirc from last year. However, what they say is:
returning 1232->1417 (no changes) on Monday: £37 adults, £24.40 YP
returning 0928->1121 (no changes) on Monday: £46.50 adults, £30.70 YP

In a hypothetical case where they weren't LYING, I would go for the former. Those prices might be right anyway. So she's saving 13quid, compared to £18 for the YP card. If she goes anywhere else at all (even tickets within London, in fact), she'll save the money easily.

Go for it, and I'll pick her up one/have her get one. There are bound to be a couple of expeditions while she's over here, so it should pay for itself.

I'd guess that doop might want to travel with us as well.

We'll probably get to the site at about 12:30. TBH, I think meeting up and all trying to camp together is going to be impossible. There's likely to be circa 16 of us coming on the bus and we're having enough hassle agreeing where we're going to camp as it is.

Er. I would have said 'yeah sure', but it *seems* like thetrainline will sell me actual tickets now (have gone through the process as far as giving them my credit card, & it hasn't barfed at me yet...). So I'm now pretty keen to buy *today* (because queuing at LB is 'orrible). Eep.

Any chance of getting in touch with her today? Alternatively, I guess I could tell you where we're going to be on the train & you could try booking by phone & asking for seats in that carriage - they'll usually do that.

Thank you. Sorry for snappiness. This week I seem to be surrounded by people setting impossible deadlines and then shouting when I fail to meet them, when they are the biggest single cause of delay. THe money doesn't seem to have come out of my account, although I can't properly check, since I can't find the bank statement for April, and I haven't had any in the post.

No tickets as yet - I think they're going out in the next couple of weeks? There's a ticket hotline you can try calling - 0871 22 00 260 (see http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/+tickets/ - which also confirms that tickets should arrive before June 14th).
