Glastonbury train

People I have train tickets for Glastonbury for:
Me, Pete, kitty_goth, marnameow, daneel_olivaw, feanelwa, mouseboks, uon, just_mon.

Train leaves from Paddington at 0933.

Pete has just suggested having breakfast before getting the train at Raffles, a truly splendid greasy spoon by the station (we used to live near Paddington & so know its splendidness). So, you have 2 options:

1: meet us at 0815 at Raffles for fry-up.
2: meet us at 0915 by the ticket office in Paddington.

Would be good if people could say which they plan on doing. Note: you won't get anywhere near the train without a ticket, & I'm not hanging around risking missing the train for late people, so, er, don't be late :-)

sbp - do you want me to get a refund for your ticket? You'll get 27 of your 37 quid back.

I am going to need to get a cab there, either which way, because it's the the busiest tube times and I'm not risking having a panic just as Glastonbury starts. Do you two want to share a minicab up there? Or else I'll see if Jo and Andrew want to. But greasy spoon sounds like a fine plan either way, so I shall try to do that.

Ooh. Andrew said yes about the taxi, and I forgot to tell you this when you were in my house 30 seconds ago. If you are greasy spooning then we are greasy spooning, although I will be more like toasting.

Well, ideally I'd not, because it costs more than the £2 tube fare :-/ But if Jo & Andrew are happy to go with you, then that works fine (& probably works *better* than trying to get 5 people & their rucksacks in a minicab, in fact). So we can see you at the greasy spoon?

Umm, if you're cancelling one of them could it be Mon's instead? Just that I haven't sorted her out a YP railcard yet and it's all getting a bit soon there's loads to do because of Ill Sheep. ALthough I could send her off to do it by herself. Or we could get it in Paddington maybe, but that's leaving it very last minute.

She should be able to do it herself OK - she just needs a passport photo (I think there's a booth in Bermondsey tube, isn't there?) and proof of age (passport, driving licence, or ISIC card), 20quid, and to go along to London Bridge ticket office. Which is pretty straightforward from Bermondsey, so she should be fine.

If I cancel Mon's you'll only get 12.40 back instead of 27quid. Offer to split the difference with her & it'll certainly be worth her while taking herself down there :-)

Anyway, let me know whose you want me to cancel by tomorrow.

OK, have printed out refund request form & will post it with the spare ticket when I get in tomorrow (in fact, technically it's Kitty's ticket I'm refunding, as that was bought separately & thus is the only one in a different carriage from the rest of us, but for ticket-purposes Kitty & Sean are interchangeable :-) ). Will give you the cash once it's come through to my account?

Well, you'd have to get up *hideously* early to get there from Oxford... You are of course entirely welcome, though! But as you're not getting the train with us you don't need to decide ahead of time (because I won't be fretting about your whereabouts & whether you'll miss the train).

Just to warn you - as Marna says below somewhere, there's a trek to the train (you have to go through a queuing system & over the bridge & it's all rather complicated) & we don't want to be rushing at the last minute, so being any later than 0915 will cause me to get MASSIVE STRESS & we don't want that do we :-)

If you're sure... it does do *very good* breakfasts :-) (I have to say this arrangement will cause me less stress, as if you're a bit late for Raffles, then the worst that happens is you can't have fryup, whereas if you're a bit late for train DOOM & DESTRUCTION ensue. OK I may be overreacting a bit... ;-) ).

However: am entirely happy for you to meet us at station if it's easier, just as long as you make it on time :-)

Given the inevitable faff, and wanting to get on the train sensibly early (and it was a trek to it last year) how's about meeting at 9am instead? That gives people being-late space (because people *will* be late. people are *always* late).

Well, so far I *think* the only person we're meeting at Paddington rather than at Raffles is mouseboks, & I have Warned him with Dire Warnings about showing up on time. I'd rather not change the timings at this stage.

Are you/Mon/Andrew/Jo coming to Raffles? It occurs to me that I could give you guys your train tickets tonight, and then I only have to worry about me, Pete, kitty_goth, doop, & mouseboks.

If it's just mouseboks we should be fine. I am planning to come to Raffles, yes, although I'm not entirely sure 'bout Jo and Andrew. But if we're sharing a cab then it makes sense.

Tickets tonight might not be a bad plan, regardless. One less thing to stress over.
