MPs challenged to a game of cricket on May Day

Anyone interested in going to a knitting exhibition sometime in the next month?

Weekend was good in patches & stressful in patches. On the upside: we have Glastonbury tickets! And I did more carpentry (nearly finished 2nd bookcase, also built a shoe-shelf for the hall cupboard). I now have a large blister on my right palm, though. Too much screwing, y'see...

[livejournal.com profile] dogrando & I spent several hours yesterday evening at the Coronet in Elephant & Castle, watching "School of Rock" & "Team America: World Police", both of which were exceptionally silly but rather fine. Followed this up with a decent curry next door before cycling home *very slowly* stuffed full of food.

Other things that I've been up to: fantastic date last week with the splendid [livejournal.com profile] spikeylady at Manna (mmm vegan chocolate cake); saw "The Witches" (& then went for dinner & Belgian beer) with [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth, [livejournal.com profile] easterbunny & [livejournal.com profile] aca, which was also a most enjoyable evening; saw Jonny Greenwood's choice of Interesting Music (including the London Sinfonietta, the Nazareth Orchestra, & seven ondes Martinot, one played by Mr Greenwood himself), which was good but not as good as the Sinfonietta/random electronica collaboration they did at Ether last year; had nice night in with my [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth.

This week is to be Quieter. Yes.

Sorry we never sorted out meeting up at the RFH before the Jonny Greenwood thing -- I thought I'd see you at the picnic beforehand anyway but then the weather wasn't really picnic-ish, & we were faffing, and, and. Um, the short version of all that rambling is, "Am rubbish, sorry".

I'm around in London on April 23rd, & will be at a loose end while [livejournal.com profile] addedentry does a whole day of extra Latin classes for clever people. Are you around then? Actually it'd be good to see lots of other londonpeople as well so maybe there is scope for planning a picnic or PUB or something. (I mean, planning meeting in a pub, not actually planning a pub... though obv if I was doing that it would be a huge pub that did nice beer and good cheap food [including vegan options natch] and had books and cats and a pinball machine and free net access. Yes.)

Oh! That means everybody will be at Whitby and London will be empty. (Well, okay, maybe not quite.) Will just have to see who's around nearer the time. Hope you have fun anyway.

I have planned so many pubs and second-hand-bookshops in my head, but sadly have no money to actually make a real one. Maybe when I'm rich and famous hahahaha. Meanwhile, why hasn't anybody made a SimPub computer game yet, eh?

I'm passing on Whitby this time one the grounds of ... well, not really fancying it, and not feeling like bending to the huge social pressure to go anyway (that, and I'm going to Leipzig 3 weeks later). Will be around in London, trying to figure out how to keep [livejournal.com profile] feanelwa entertained, given current plans.

Manna (mmm vegan chocolate cake)

Waah, jealous. Not been to Manna since I was there with you lot, which is clearly too long. Must get organised one of these days...

*jealous*. I read a review of that Ether in the Observer yesterday. I never hear about these things till they're over. Next year....

I definitely fancy that exhibition, perhaps we could figure out a time to see it together?
